HalalKnot uses privacy and reporting controls intended to reduce risk. No online service can verify every member or prevent all harm, so use the practical precautions below when getting to know someone.
HalalKnot is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger or a crime is in progress, contact local emergency services or police first.
How we protect you
Your contact details stay private
Your email and optional WhatsApp number are not displayed on your public profile. Selected contact details are shared after mutual acceptance, according to the sharing preference you choose.
Your photo is private by default
New profile photos are blurred for everyone browsing, and are only revealed automatically to members you mutually connect with. You stay in control of who sees your face.
Proposals, not open chat
There is no in-app messaging. Selected contact details are shared after mutual acceptance so members can continue through their chosen external channel.
Report anything that feels wrong
Every profile has a Report option. Reports are reviewed, and photos are automatically screened for inappropriate content on upload.
Blocking and anti-evasion controls
Blocking a member removes them from your experience, and our block-evasion protection helps stop blocked users from reaching you through new accounts.
Family involvement is encouraged
HalalKnot is built for marriage, not casual dating. We encourage involving parents or a wali as conversations progress.
Staying safe in first contact
Once you connect and share contact details, keep these simple principles in mind.
- Take your time. There is no pressure to move quickly. A genuine person will respect your pace and your family's involvement.
- Involve your family or a wali early. Sharing your conversations with someone you trust is both safer and in keeping with the spirit of a halal introduction.
- Keep first conversations on the platform's shared channels. Be cautious about moving to private channels before you feel comfortable.
- Meet in a public place, and let a family member know where you are. For a first meeting, consider bringing a family member along.
- Never send money, gifts, or financial information — no matter the story. Requests for money are the clearest sign of a scam.
- Be wary of anyone who refuses to involve family, avoids voice or video calls, or pressures you to keep the relationship secret.
Never send money
No legitimate match will ask you for money, gift cards, or your financial details — regardless of the reason they give. If someone does, stop contact and report them immediately.
