Enforcement & Appeals
Last updated: 1 September 2026
We assess the available information, the severity and immediacy of risk, context, prior violations and the reliability of the evidence. Reports do not automatically result in a penalty, and false or malicious reports may themselves breach our rules.
Possible actions
Content removal
Profile text or a photo may be removed when the content itself breaches our rules.
Warning
Used for lower-severity conduct where education and correction may be appropriate.
Feature restriction
Access to a feature may be limited while risk is investigated or to prevent repeated misuse.
Suspension
Temporary loss of access may be used during an investigation or for a serious/repeated breach.
Permanent ban
Used for severe harm, credible risk, repeated violations, underage use or evading an earlier ban.
Notice and reasons
When we restrict content or an account, we will normally identify the type of action, the rule category and a concise reason. We may withhold specific details when disclosure would endanger another person, reveal a confidential report, interfere with an investigation or be prohibited by law.
How to appeal
- Appeal within six months of the decision.
- Email connect.hk@outlook.com from the address used for your HalalKnot account.
- Use the subject “Account decision appeal” and include your HalalKnot ID, decision date and why you believe the decision is wrong.
- Do not include unnecessary identity documents, intimate images or another person's private information.
A person who was not the original decision-maker will review the appeal where reasonably possible. We may uphold, change or reverse the decision and will communicate the outcome. Submitting an appeal does not automatically pause a safety restriction.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. An appeal is not an emergency-reporting channel. For member reports, use our Report Abuse page.
